A population bottleneck (or genetic bottleneck) is...
Population bottlenecks increase genetic drift, as the rate of drift is inversely proportional to the population size. The reduction in a population’s dispersal leads, over time, to increased genetic homogeneity. If severe, population bottlenecks can also markedly increase inbreeding due to the reduced pool of possible mates. A slightly different sort of genetic bottleneck can occur if a...

I'm quitting life.
In the past two weeks I have spoken with the lead singers of my two absolute favorite bands (and when I say absolute favorite I mean I love them like you love your children) on twitter multiple times using just my wit and a simple @ sign, someone was able to lift me up off of the ground like 1000x and basically throw me over their shoulder, and josheralmonddd just asked me if something I wrote was...

The problem with civilization is simple and easy to explain. We are all trapped in this machine. We have no choice. To live, you must work because working has become living. We have distanced ourselves from our wild ancestors in every way possible. We do not want to be animals but we long to be machines. We long for constant connections because we are so damn far apart. The problem with...

asparagusaloha asked: Hey there, awesomepants! :) So, sorry to pester you again... I've been meaning to go to Whole Foods, but I always here people around here whining about the prices being incredibly high. Do you think the prices of their vegan-friendly stuff is ridiculous at all? Thank you!

Taking a stance against scavengers →
krona: baconqurlyq: On Tuesday night the Newport Beach City Council made it a serious offense to scavenge through trash. The Costa Mesa Sanitary District is considering locking some of its residents’ trash cans. The actions come during a down economy, when more and more people are scrounging through garbage for their income — and more residents are complaining about it. “It’s a way to...

wiiiiiiildcat asked: Do you ever get stomachaches from soy or vegan cheese? I swear, some of the vegan meat substitutes just do not agree with my system.

By the way, I am a vegetarian. ;)

Attempting to make beer bread.
I wanted fresh bread with my whole wheat spaghetti and meat(less) ball dinner but I didn’t have 24 hours to wait for the dough to rise so I’m making beer bread. I added too much sugar and it’s really sweet….but I’m not mad. Sweet bread is good too. I added some garlic, salt, and pepper to some vegan butter and whipped it up. I’m gonna spread it on the bread...

Our ability to harm other creatures is not at all unique. The driving force of life is death. There is nothing wrong with taking life to sustain it but that is not what humans do. Humans have become a parasite to the planet, taking life and land as freely as they please. Those in charge have completely disregarded the natural system and way of life and therefore, brainwashed us into forgoing it...

A Mythological Story That Might Sound Familiar.
theslowcollapseofsociety: This story takes place a half a billion years ago-an inconceivably long time ago, when this planet, would be all but recognizable to you.  Nothing at all stirred on the land, except the wind and the dust.  Not a single blade of grass waved in the wind not a single cricket chirped, not a single bird soared in the sky.  All these things were tens of millions of years away...
