More craziness
New York is rounding up thousands, yes thousands, of Canadian Geese and euthanizing them (by carbon monoxide) because about five of them flew into the engine or propellors of a plane forcing the pilot to land the plane in the water. All passengers and crew survived. That pilot kept his cool and landed that plane. He is a hero!
Instead of killing them, why not do something to deter the birds from nesting near the airport runways. An airport spokesperson said that security guards have been authorized to shoot them if they are interfering with take offs, etc. That’s an accident waiting to happen! I am certainly not trying to say that something doesn’t need to be done about the birds, but has anyone considered relocation? Is there not a more humane way to deal with this problem? The picture in the paper of city workers rounding the birds up into fenced enclosures was quite disturbing. The geese are losing their feathers at this time of year and are unable to fly…. how cruel! They have no way of escape. I tried to link the article to this post but it was no longer on USA Today.
so sad. people don’t realize that animals lives have just as much meaning as ours.
